What we offer

Nancy Greene Ski League:

Aimed at young athletes who are interested in developing their skiing skills and learning the basics about ski racing.  The intent of this program is to develop the ABCS (agility, balance, coordination, strength /speed) in as many different snow conditions and terrains as possible and most of all, to have fun on skis.  Skiers must be able to demonstrate snowplow turns on easy terrain and be comfortable riding  the red T-Bar.

Lightning Creek offers an introduction to Ski Racing Program for ages 5-12.

Season extends from September-December with optional dryland training once/week.  On-snow training 1-2 days/week December-April.  Some out of town races are encouraged.

Alpine Race Team:

To allow our children to take their ski racing to the next level, we offer an alpine racing program, that teaches the art of ski racing and competing in all alpine racing styles, including GS, Slalom, Super G and Ski Cross.

The program includes club membership fees, BC Alpine membership fees for the athlete and parents, National Competitor Card, dryland training, zone race and speed camp, and coaching.

Lightning Creek offers this program for athletes aged 12-16.

The Alpine season extends from September-December with mandatory dryland training twice/week.  On-snow training 3-4 days/week December-April.  Athletes are carded through BC Alpine and are expected to attend as many races as possible throughout the province.

Program costs not included: lift tickets, personal race equipment, summer camps, travel, and race expenses.

Aging Out:

Athletes typically "age out" of the Alpine program at age 16 or 17.  Lightning Creek encourages these athletes to take their Coaches certification training in order to help with upcoming athletes.  Several alumni have also successfully joined larger development teams elsewhere in the province.
